Term 2

Amanda Scott —

Building connections - How do communities reflect the culture and heritage of their people?

This term our inquiry learning focuses upon the connections that have been built between people over time. We will explore the history and bicultural nature of Aotearoa, focusing on the differing perspectives and values positions that people hold.

Students will participate in drama to explore the history of Pacific voyagers and learn about their knowledge, skills and innovation. Students will also explore the impact of colonisation on Aotearoa and research the history of Wellington and Miramar.

Through these experiences it is hoped that students will be able to describe various kinds of interactions that can occur as a consequence of people moving to new places and what this means for shaping a future that we can be proud of.

This term we are also looking forward to swimming. As we are now confident that camp will be able to go ahead this year it is important for us to get some swimming sessions in before we go. Information on swimming and camp will be emailed soon.
