Our Karakia

Rimu Syndicate —

Whakataka te hou

Every day, each class says a karakia to begin the school day. The karakia we are all saying this year is Whakataka te hau. To Māori, a karakia is a way to bring people together. You will notice in the translation that there are no religious connotations, but more just recognising that it’s going to be a great day, which we think is a positive and appropriate way to start each day at school. We also sing a version of this karakia for Kapa Haka.
