As part of integrating digital technologies we are trialing individual G Suite for Education accounts in the Pohutukawa syndicate.

This means that students will each have their own individual school logins. Although their logins are in an email format we have turned off email functionality for these accounts to keep our children safe online. The main purpose for this login is for use at school, they will however be able to access them at home should they choose to. This is an opportunity for them to show self-management by remembering their logins and keeping them safe. Should it be necessary, teachers are able to access and change these details.

Having individual school logins for each student means that teachers will be able to more closely monitor the choices students are making online, assign tasks to groups or individuals and offer feedback when necessary. As part of the digital technologies programme children will also take part in cyber safety lessons. These accounts mean that children have access to google classroom as well as other google suite apps.

This is an exciting time for our students, it is preparing them for the future. We look forward to seeing their self management and independence grow throughout the year.
