Eastern Zone & Interzone Cross Country

Ella Douglas (Yr 6) —

Hi I’m Ella Douglas, and I had the opportunity to represent MNS in the Eastern Zone Cross Country this year. It’s an honour to be able to write an article for the MNS page.

It was a huge privilege to compete in such a big event. Even though I came 46th in the Eastern Zones Cross Country race I am still proud of myself and my team mates. Other students were as lucky as me to compete. I’ve interviewed a couple and this is what they said...

Petra’s goal was to come in the top thirty, she accomplished her goal coming in 30th! She is proud of that placement. At the start she was shaking, cold and nervous, the nerves soon turned into adrenaline. The gun shot, girls screamed, Petra immediately got a great place in the middle near the rope. As soon as she had passed the corner she had already passed four people. So a massive thumbs up to Petra!

Tom accomplished his goal at Eastern Zones and this led on to Interzones. In Eastern Zones Tom’s goal was to come in top 10 and he actually finished 3rd! His excitment was extreme.

Interzone

At the Interzone Event Tom was as jumpy as a jumping bean partly because it was freezing and partly because he was buzzing with energy. Adrenaline rapidly raced through his cold and nervous body. Tom paced himself throughout the race and ended up proud with a placing of 28th. Well done Tom!

The weather was cold, grey and slightly drizzly but Petra, Tom, Charlie, Jayda, Ivy, Jessica and Kennedy were determined to race! The group were all proud that they made it to represent the Eastern Zone area at the Interzone event. A very special congratulations to Kennedy (in year 4) who came 8th in the Interzones race and is representing now going to represent Wellington at the Regionals event.

Regionals

Kennedy had an amazing race at the Regional event and finished 8th out of approximately 70 runners. Well done Kennedy! We are very proud of you!
