Celebrating Term 3
Term 3 was another term packed full of fun and learning. The children in Rimu started off finding out about native birds and plants. We were super excited to see a native kārearea swoop over while eating our lunch one day.
Once spring arrived, we started growing things. Our school vegetable garden is full to bursting with beans, peas and herbs and the “Little Gardens” grew well. We were lucky to have Alistair from Predator-free Miramar, Lorraine from Zero Waste and a representative from the Fire Service come to talk to us.
All of the children and teachers were thrilled to be returning to whole school kapa haka in the hall. It really is a highlight of our week.
Māori Language week was another example of tamariki working together as they went around activities doing haka, rakau, taonga pūoro (musical instruments made from nature), learning Māori legends and Māori games.
The last week of school we were hugely entertained by NZ Playhouse doing the Pantomime of The Emperor's New Clothes. The children laughed so much and it was a lovely way to end the term.
