Kōwhai Trip to Te Turanga o Kupe (Seatoun).

Miramar North School —

Beach clean up, History of our place tiki tour by the Kura students, the dolphins even came out to play!

What a fabulous day for a trip to our local community.  We were lucky to be a part of a beach clean-up and a tiki tour of the Eastern walkway from local students from the Kura Kaupapa. Here is some writing from our Tamariki:

The Beach Day

What an exciting beach day!

In the playground we played wars. I hid in a bush to find sticks to use for guns. Me and my friends separated into two different teams - Sam, Bobby and Elia verses me, Caleb, Charlie, Arthur, Ari and Kaian and for some reason we lost 2 and only won 1 - that’s weird. Also we saw dolphins that shot up and down in the water. I heard boats zooming through the water and sand rustling in the wind.

In the end we all went on the bus and I saw my cousin watching his ipad through the bus window. What a surprise!

The dolphins soaring through the sky,

The sun reflecting on the water, making it gleam,

The sound of the waves crashing against the shore,

The vibrations from the boats that pass nearby,

This is where the Wāhine may lie,

Ngake and Whātaitai may have lived here, but no one knows for sure,

The sound of the comforting breeze soothing through our lungs,

Birds chirping high on the cliffside,

All is calm,

Very calm, in Te Turanga o Kupe

Adventurous people from Kõwhai Syndicate are tramping in Te Turanga o Kupe.
