School Cross Country

Timetable and Course Marshals

Tuesday 17th May 2022 is the School Cross Country (postponement day, Friday 20th May). This is an endurance run in, out and around the school grounds. Children from years 1 - 6 are taking part. All of the syndicates have been training. Please make sure your child has suitable running shoes, warm clothes and a water bottle for when they finish. Students with asthma MUST have their inhaler with them for race day and training sessions.

As a guide:

Y1: 200m/4-5 minutes

Y2: 400m/ 5-6 minutes

Y3: 900m/6-9 minutes

 Y4:1km/6-9 minutes

 Y5 /Y6: 1.5 km / 9-12 minutes.

The event will be used as part of the selection process to determine which students will represent MNS at the Eastern Zone Inter-School Cross Country later this term. We will use a combination of the race results and our observations during training to select the children for this event. If your child has been unwell please make sure they know to only run as hard as they are able and if they need to rest they should rest.

Timetable:

Children will be organised into year level groups. The races start with the Year 6 Boys followed by the Year 6 Girls etc.

9:20AM - Y6 BOYS, Y6 GIRLS, YR 5 BOYS, Y5 GIRLS, Y4 BOYS, YR 4 GIRLS, Y3 BOYS, Y3 GIRLS

11:45AM - Y2 Boys, Y2 Girls, Y1 Boys, Y1 Girls.

For this event to run smoothly MNS require a LARGE number of parent helpers to act as course marshals for the year 3 - 6 races, especially for the footpath sections outside the school.

Please follow the link below if you are able to help. It gives us a guide as to how many helpers we’ll have for the morning.
