Celebrating Term 1

Amanda Scott —

Our people, Our place

Last term in Pōhutukawa we did lots of learning about our local place and our connection on the peninsula with the sea. We explored how the connections we have with the sea can lead to many different experiences.

It was great fun learning to work with each other to be successful in things that we find challenging, such as snorkelling and sailing. Through art, sport and science students explored how every individual has different qualities and skills that make them unique.

Some of the highlights of the term were:

I enjoyed learning my new maths routines and getting to pick my challenge level. It was super fun getting to write about my summer and all the cool things I did. Andrew

I loved the day of play because there were lots of fun things to choose to do! I really enjoyed getting to go snorkelling because I got to see lots of sea creatures under the water. Anice

I really liked that we got to see lots of sea life, and it was very inspiring for me to do more snorkelling. The pop art was awesome because I enjoyed adding my idea of shading to my self portrait. Layla

I loved sailing because I was steering the boat and it was very fun. I really enjoyed the creative quick writes we do, because I can use my own ideas in our writing. Charlie
