MNS Board of Trustees Update

Tēnā koutou katoa,

The Board of Trustees meeting on Monday 31st July was packed full of updates about the school’s progress in PB4L, professional development, and property.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)

Amanda Scott (co-Deputy Principal, and Pōhutukawa Syndicate Leader) talked us through the school’s transition from PB4L Tier 1 – which involves the whole school – to Tier 2 where the school creates a supportive environment and culture to enable transition for the children who need it. You can see the school’s journey in the diagram above, including how the TIKA values are connected with the PB4L initiatives. Other schools are learning from MNS’s progress and leadership in this area.

Professional Development

Teachers and teacher aides have engaged with a wide range of professional development, including Maths Moderation, Te Reo Māori, ASD and Dyslexia, and Understanding Behaviour Responding Safely.

Property

It’s great to see Little Makos Swim School up and running, with newly-painted pool, doors and windows. Also wonderful that all the school tamariki got to plant the grasses, shrubs and trees in the driveway tiered garden. Plans are still in progress to turn the bike track into an edible garden and wellbeing space.
