Why should a Church become a Member of Missions Interlink?

Chris Ponniah —

The local church is at the heart of God’s mission. It’s where faith is nurtured, disciples are formed, and workers are sent into the harvest. Without the active engagement of mission-minded churches, the Great Commission cannot be fully lived out.

"...I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." Mt 16:18

When your church joins the Missions Interlink network, you bring the heartbeat of grassroots ministry, the passion of God’s people, and the unique ability to send, support, and sustain mission workers. Together, we can see a united, mobilised movement rise from New Zealand, taking the Gospel to every nation, tribe, and tongue.

1. Broader Kingdom Impact

Your church is where believers are shaped for mission. By linking arms with mission agencies and Christian organisations, as well as other churches, your reach goes far beyond your own congregation. Together, we connect with national and global mission initiatives, seeing lives transformed in places you may never set foot, but where your prayers, people, and resources will make an eternal difference.

2. Collaboration and Shared Resources

No church is meant to do mission alone. As part of the network, your church gains direct access to mission agencies, training, and global partners you might otherwise never meet. We share wisdom, avoid duplication, and join forces on projects bigger than any one of us could tackle alone.

3. Mobilising the Whole Church

Mission agencies often have the expertise and infrastructure, but churches have the people, the goers, senders, supporters, and intercessors. Our network exists to help your congregation engage intentionally in God’s mission, locally and globally, so that everyone can find their place in God’s mission.

4. Strengthening the Body of Christ

Your church brings unique theological insight, cultural perspective, and mission experience. These enrich the collective voice of the network, helping shape strategies and initiatives that reflect the heart, wisdom, and beautiful diversity of the Church in New Zealand.

5. Encouragement and Accountability

Being in mission is inspiring, but it can also be challenging. That’s why it’s so valuable to walk alongside others who share your passion. In Missions Interlink, you’ll find encouragement to keep going, inspiration to dream bigger, and accountability to keep mission a vibrant part of your church’s life.

In short, if we want to see the mission movement in New Zealand truly united, we cannot limit ourselves to just mission agencies or Christian organisations; we need churches. When churches join the network, we weave a stronger, more connected, more effective movement that reflects God’s heart for the gospel to go to all people.
