Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)

PB4L Team —

We are a PB4L school, and this is about creating an environment where positive things happen, and students feel safe and nurtured. Our kura environment allows learning to thrive and flourish, with students being rewarded for displaying our school values.

PB4L messages:

  • Pre-correct stories are shared and discussed daily with students on how to improve and ensure that we are all doing our best to display Monrad Mana throughout the day.

  • We love acknowledging students at assemblies by rewarding value bands and badges. Last Wednesday, in a whole school assembly in the hall, we celebrated the success of our tamariki, who had earnt either bands or badges. Ka pai!

  • We draw a selection of random value tickets and give out cool spot prizes, so even if our tamariki have not yet earned a value band or badge, earning our value tickets still gives all students a chance at a prize.

  • Students who receive badges are celebrated with a lunch date with our Principals.

  • Every term, we set a target amount of value tickets for students to earn. Last term, our target amount was 1000 tickets, which we achieved in only 5 weeks, so this term, we have raised the bar to 2000 tickets!

  • Last week Kaiako participated in new professional learning about Restorative Practice. This will help staff address behaviours using a 3 phase process to ‘Keep the small things small’.

Positive Behavior for Learning is what we are all about!

Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui!
