He Mihi - Departing Staff 2022

Matt and Lewis —

Christine Burnie
Christine is retiring from her position as SENCO. Christine is a long-serving staff member who has significantly impacted the lives of our tamariki. We thank Christine for your countless hours devoted to our kura, particularly our tamariki in Makurerua. We will undoubtedly miss your leadership and expertise in special education. We know you will enjoy working on your gardens, tending to your farm and being with the whānau, especially your mokopuna. Your service to education has been invaluable, and we wish you the best.

Belinda Franklin
Our talented mixed media arts teacher Whaea Belinda has won a job at Wairarapa College in 2023. Whaea Belinda has not only inspired many of our students to pursue their passion for the arts, but she has produced national winners in wearable arts, coached and trained multiple hockey teams, and been an active member of our PB4L team. She leaves behind a special taonga she created, our school magazine, 2022.

Matt Schmidt
Matt has been in the role of Acting Assistant Principal this year, and he has done an outstanding job leading ‘Mangaone’ the year 8 team. Matt and his beautiful whānau are moving to Rarotonga, where he will be a teacher at Apii Te Uki Ou School. We will miss Matts's leadership and curriculum knowledge. During his time here, Matt has made a significant impact on the learning outcomes of Monrad Tirohanga tamariki.

Taylor Marlow-Jones
Taylor has been with us for the last two years, and we are so lucky to have had her skills and expertise. Taylor and her partner are moving back to Wellington, where she will take on a leadership role at Wainuiomata Primary School. Watching Taylor's confidence and teaching practice go from strength to strength has been a pleasure.

Heather Ayerst
Whaea Heather joined us in term 2 this year, although she has a long history and a wealth of experience at Monrad Te Kura Waenga o Tirohanga. Whaea Heather has devoted many years to the educational outcomes of tamariki-mokopuna in various schools across Aotearoa. We are excited for you, Whaea Heather, as you embark on a new career in 2023.

Malakai Haimona Ngatai
Malakai is an ex-student from Monrad Tirohanga who returned this year as a pupil assist in Makurerua. Malakai is a talented sportsperson with a very bright future ahead of him. It was a pleasure to have Malakai back in his old stomping ground and working alongside our tamariki. We wish you all the best for 2023.
