Year 8 Celebration Formal Dance

Mangaone Team —

It’s that time again when we count down to our end-of-year celebration to see off our Year 8 students as they leave Monrad Te Kura Waenga o Tirohanga.

This year our Year 8 formal dance has the theme “Masquerade Prom”. This event is about having a fun time together to celebrate the end of our journey at Monrad and celebrate all we have achieved.

We will be decorating the hall in style, will have photos taken to capture those awesome pics with our mates (these will be in a shared folder for you after the event), some nice finger food to refill our energy levels from all the dancing, and even some special prizes during the evening. We’ll be learning some line dances and formal dances at school, as well as just having an opportunity to boogie the night away in our own style.

To help with the cost of setting up this event, tickets will be only $5 each. These will be available from Week 7, however, you can bring your money to the office and have your name checked off at any time. We want you to dress up nicely and wear your Sunday best if you can, but please don’t feel obliged to go out spending money on fancy new outfits!! You can bring your own mask from home, or some classes may be making them in class.

We’ll also have the red carpet out for you to make your special entrance for the gathered celebrities and paparazzi. If you want to be dropped off in a cool car, we’ll have some cones out for the drop-off area, but again, this isn’t a must, just if you want to!

This year’s dance will begin at 6.30 pm and end at 8.30 pm, here at school. Please do not arrive before 6.15 pm and be here to pick your child up at 8.30 pm. Children will not be permitted to walk or scooter home at that time of night. If you have arranged for your child to be picked up by a mate’s parents, please make sure the classroom teacher is informed of this. Please note this event is only for Year 8 students of our kura.

We look forward to seeing all Year 8s at this event - it’s going to be an awesome night!
