Makurerua with Whaea Nellie
Makurerua’s Busy and Bright Term
This term, Makurerua students had the opportunity to visit the Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery Rehabilitation Centre. It was a fantastic experience where we learned many fascinating facts about the importance of rehabilitation spaces for sick and injured wildlife. We especially enjoyed exploring the interactive zones and observing the different habitats designed to support recovery and conservation.
Our staff also had the privilege of working alongside Chris from SPELD, who shared a range of effective teaching strategies to support our diverse learners. It was a valuable professional learning experience that we’re excited to put into practice.
To support our physical wellbeing, we’ve been making the most of the fitness equipment near He Ara Kotai bridge. Whaea Madi guided us in learning how to use the equipment safely and correctly. Spending time outdoors and staying active has been a real highlight for many of us!
Another proud moment this term was heading out to Freyberg High School to support Jackson at the Supersport event. He represented our kura with pride, and we were all thrilled to cheer him and the rest of the team on. Ka mau te wehi, Jackson!
