Ngā Iti Rearea Trials 2025
We are proud of the 130 tamariki who signed up for competitive kapa haka with ‘Ngā Iti Rearea’. The commitment, mana and resilience we saw from the 98 tamariki who participated in the trials were outstanding. Trying to swing a poi, sing, haka, learn actions, and choreography in a short time is not an easy feat. The talent that our tamariki have is truly inspiring.
We are limited to registering 40 performers and 10 traveling reserves for the Te Mana Kuratahi Nationals in Tauranga. If it were up to us, we would register everyone! We have communicated to all the tamariki that even if they are not selected for this performance, Tirohanga kapa haka practices will continue every week. They also have multiple performances scheduled throughout the year, including Pae Tamariki at The Regent in June and an end-of-year showcase in November.
It is important for all tamariki and whānau who have been selected to recognise that our standards and expectations remain high. Although tamariki have made the travelling team, the performing spots have not been finalised. With considerable time before the nationals in November, all tamariki must fully commit to the national campaign. Whānau should communicate with Pā Lewis immediately if your tamaiti/riki is not fully committed. This will allow us to offer the opportunity to one of the 48 tamariki who did not receive a place.
If your tamaiti is selected, someone from your whānau must attend the Taurana-Moana camp hui on Tuesday, April 29th, at 5:00 p.m. in the school hall (week 1 of term 2). At the end of this week, we will email all travelling tamariki and their whānau with the camp information and practice schedule for the remainder of the year. Like we did this term, there will be other fundraising opportunities for tamariki and their whānau to raise money for this trip.
Congratulations to the tamariki named for the travelling team to Te Mana Kuratahi Kapa Haka Nationals in Tauranga-Moana, 2025.
