Positive Behavior for Learning

We are a PB4L school, and this is about creating an environment where positive things happen, and students feel safe and nurtured. Our kura environment allows learning to thrive and flourish, with students being rewarded for displaying our school values.

Monrad Mana: One of our core values at Tirohanga is Mana - from our Akonga perspective this is about valuing themselves and Tirohanga, our Kura. The school uniform our Akonga wear is apart of recognising and upholding the value of Mana. As we head into our last term of learning we have noticed some students wearing items of clothing that do not belong to our uniform. Here at Kura we use our daily precorrects to help direct our students' thoughts and remind them about our uniform. It would be awesome if at home you could also reinforce this message about wearing our correct Monrad Tirohanga uniform with Mana and ensure they arrive at Kura correctly dressed. Thank you.

Celebrating our Akonga:

  • Year 8 Leavers celebration, Wednesday 14th December 6.30-8.30pm. The theme this year is a Formal Masquerade Prom. This time is about celebrating all that has been achieved with our Year 8 students and saying goodbye to the journey they have had within our Kura. Year 8 students will receive more information about this along with ticket information.

  • Prize giving 2022 Thursday 15th December: 11am-12.30pm come along and celebrate all of the achievements made with our Akonga this year. This will be held in our school hall with more information coming soon.

  • Puawaitanga mā Ngā Tau Waru o Tahuna ā Rua 2022. It’s that time of the year where we celebrate our tau 8 akonga at a long running tradition of Puawaitanga.

This year Puawaitanga will be held at the Distinction Travelodge Hotel Central

Date: Thursday 8th December 2022 5 pm - 7 pm.

  • PB4L final celebration fun day for 2022 to be held at the Lido on Monday the 19th of December. We are wanting to spend a final day with our Akonga, celebrating not only their amazing efforts this year but also their huge efforts in meeting our termly values ticket targets. More information to come later on this term. Mark the date on your calendars.

Positive Behavior for Learning is what we are all about!
