PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dean Sheppard —

Here Acting Principal Dean Sheppard shares his thoughts.

Kia ora and welcome to the Mount Aspiring College newsletter, week five.

It's been a great week here with lots happening in the background. We’ve had success on the sports field, in the dance studio and on the snow. I've also been impressed at the work ethic of our seniors as they prepare for exams.

Next week we’ll be focusing on the SOAR value ‘others.’ It's important we continue to consider those around us, and reflect on how our behavior, both positive and negative, impacts our peers. Take the time to listen and look out for each other both in and out of school.

It’s been heartening to see so many getting it right - I have noticed a real change in how our collective student body looks, so well done.

This week we have Danielle Nicholson, who is joining us until the end of the year to run our Rutherford programme. We also have Candace Caroll starting as our Kapa Haka tutor, so a warm welcome to both.

On a final note, I would like to acknowledge how unsettling it has been with the COVID-19 restrictions and general unease. I remain extremely impressed with the way in which our students have stayed calm, rational and taken the distancing and extra hygiene in their stride.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Nga mihi
