STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Here we celebrate student achievement and showcase activities our students are involved in around college.
FIRST PLACE IN NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION
Congratulations to Year 12 student Nat Warburton who has been awarded first place in ‘Stills’, New Zealand’s only nationwide youth photography competition for students.
Nat took out the ‘Life in motion’ category of the competition with the judges describing Nat’s winning photo of a climber on a rock face as a breathtaking depiction of the scale of nature against mankind.
Nat was also named among the top ten national finalists for his photo taken at a MAC concert featuring East York that he entered in the ‘Connection’ category.
Nat’s win in the ‘Stills’ competition comes after he also won the Youth category of the New Zealand Alpine Club (NZAC) photo competition earlier in the year. Nat’s ambition is to become a professional adventure photographer and videographer.
PAUL ADAMSON VISIT TO MAC
The Year 8 students had the privilege of a session with NZ author Paul Adamson on Tuesday morning as part of the Storylines National Story Tour. Paul shared his enthusiasm for the great outdoors and the desire for young readers to get active and have adventures.
