FROM THE BOARD

Board Chair —

A message from the Presiding Member of the School Board Niamh Shaw.

Kia ora koutou, hi all

Over the previous month I’ve received a smorgasbord of Kindo emails. At the start of the school year, I thought it would be helpful to revisit school fees.

The College uses Kindo to administer school fees and payments. We are updating Kindo to clarify some things, specifically:

  • Curriculum charges are voluntary. The MAC Course Guide/ Curriculum Overview list all charges related to curriculum (see the tabs at the bottom to toggle between Yr 7-10, and Yr 11-13 charges)

  • Generally, charges are for the whole year; you don’t have to pay all at once! Certain things – like school camps – must be paid at least two weeks before camp, but other payments can be spread across the year

  • School camps are above and beyond the curriculum, and participation is voluntary. The College charges to cover the costs; but we can offer payment programmes or grants from local trusts to support families who find this cost challenging.

  • Please email fees@mtaspiring.school.nz if you would like assistance with financial support.

  • The annual school donation is a voluntary payment and supports a range of initiatives which are not funded by the Ministry of Education. In 2024, your donations helped support English Language Learners and Teacher Aide time in junior classes.

  • We are a 'bring your own device' (BYOD) College; however, we can (and do) provide long term devices for some families, which is funded by the School Board.

  • Please see the Ministry of Education regulations regarding school fees and charges here.

Our College has a low Equity Index, and therefore receives less financial support from Government because it has a low Equity Index. We are reliant on our community to help us provide an extensive and flexible curriculum with excellence, and appreciate the many parents who support the College and our students.

Kia ora
