PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Nicola Jacobsen —

Here, Principal Nicola Jacobsen shares her thoughts.

Kia ora,

It has been great to see the success of students in the Kids' Lit Quiz. The regional final was held in Queenstown last week. The students have done well to be able to answer a range of questions on different texts, and to work together and share their knowledge to come away with great results.

At this week’s junior and senior assemblies we celebrated the success of students. There have been a number of students who have broken school athletics and swim sports records, participated in a number of service activities, such as the Relay for Life, and and raising funds for the Red Cross as part of the relief effort from Cyclone Gabrielle. The Head Students presented awards to four junior and four senior students who they have noticed as exemplifying the school values of whanaungatanga and manaakitanga, which have been our focus for Term One.

The following students were acknowledged:

Senior:

  • Cuba Pavlovich

  • Bradley Gendall

  • Tayla Doran

  • Ruby McLachlan

Junior:

  • Mikayla Botting

  • Toby Brown

  • Laia McTaggart

  • Bede Laming

As we head into the final week of the term, and the weather starts to get cooler, a reminder that hoodies are not part of the school uniform. The majority of students have been great at upholding the expectations of our school uniform and look great. The blazer fabric has been signed off, and we will have some samples arriving soon, which we will display in the front office. There will be an update early in Term Two about when the blazer will be ready for students to purchase.

Toitū te whenua, toitū te tangata

The land is strong, the people are fulfilled.

Ngā mihi,

Nicola Jacobsen
