MAC Juniors

The MAC juniors had a home match against our rivals over the hill, Wakatipu High School, on Saturday. Although we had a solid start, the final 10 minutes got away from us.

A colossal tackle count gave Hank Carnie man of the match, and special mention to Ziggy Horkings who displayed some exciting running and chip kicking, proving he is going to be someone to watch going forward. The game was played with outstanding sportsmanship from both sides.

Final: 19-58

MAC Colts

The MAC Colts took on King’s High School U15 team in Dunedin on Saturday and were slow off the mark, conceding two early tries. But once they found their groove, the boys turned up the heat, running in six tries and nailing some slick conversions from Danny. Defence had its wobbles, but Captain Monty lifted the squad, leading a strong comeback. The match felt like a tennis rally — fast, end-to-end, and full of energy. The final whistle blew with the Colts on top, sealing a hard-fought win. They wrapped it all up with a classic post-match ocean dip and some well-earned showers.

Final: 36-32

First XV

In a thrilling contest between MAC and Wakatipu High School, it was Wakatipu who came out firing in the first half, striking early to gain momentum. Despite the early setback, MAC responded with determination, as Hugh Ragg crossed the line to narrow the deficit, bringing the score to 7-10 at the break.

The second half saw a shift in momentum as MAC came out with renewed intensity - putting MAC ahead on the scoreboard. The contest remained fiercely competitive, but a brilliant break by Lachlan Hay paved the way for Sam Soper to extend MAC’s lead further.

With solid defence and composed play in the final stages, MAC held strong and sealed the very hard victory over Wakatipu.

Final: 21 - 17
