STUDENT SHOWCASE
YEAR 7 POEMS
Here is a selection of some fabulous poems written about sweets by Year 7 students.
A golden explorer
Travelling the barren lands
Of the tastebud Arctic
The nostalgic scent
Of cloying sugar and Halloween
Fills the palate
The sensation
Of rough, ridged surfaces
And malleable bodies
Artificial bursts of bananas
Crumples in vulnerable heaps
Of sticky goo
A foamy crinkle
A zesty POP
A squishy squash
With sugar on top!
Written by Ford Mills
Dark brown
Looks like a fish
Hard yet smooth
Chocolaty and a
Sweet smell
It's hard and
Smooth springy yet
Vulnerable
It tastes like
Biting
Into sunshine
It cracks when
You bite into
Them

"My Darling"
My Darling, carrot top,
Looking smooth with imperfections,
A duck foot you were thought of,
But now knowledge flies.
My Darling bright and sweet,
You dance across my nose,
With memories of flight.
Childhood.
Soft and smooth,
Haircuts in a van,
Free and moldable,
Your springy energy,
My Darling.
Orange, chewy, jelly-like,
My Darling, oh, your warmth,
Citrus first, pasta last,
Sticky flight.
My Darling, take flight,
Glide quietly across,
A forest filled range,
My Darling, the moon wanes to you,
My Darling, Jet Plane.

Lime Sweet Fruits
Mint Green,
Tiny specks of white
dust spreads across
the curved human-like
ball.
Lime-sweet,
fruit reminds me of
my childhood
parties.
Rough, bumpy
edges,
it bends
in my grasp.
It's a rough
sharp sandpaper
sheet in my
smooth hands.
Sweet fruity
flavour melts on
my drooling
tongue.
It dances
on my tastebuds,
making me
crave more.
Tiny sweet
crunches melt
in my mouth.
Lime sweet Eskimos.

Streamlined
Appearing elegant
as a swan
Looking
as streamlined
as a jet
Having the aroma
of a bitter-sweet
lime
Smooth
as red-velvet
Squirming
and dissolving
on my tongue
Whooshing
as it
whizzes
through the air

Streamlined
A streamlined
craft.
A powerful
force.
Like lemonade
on a hot day.
A peaceful
moment.
Smooth as
velvet.
It’s gummy,
Chewy
and soft!
Flying around my mouth.
Crack!
A drum beat signals the end of its journey.
