Kia ora all,
The focus of this week’s assemblies for junior and senior students is about being a safe school. It was fantastic to have the Head Students, Meg and Ollie, as well as senior students Tess Treadwell-Burke and Rory Read, help deliver this message. They spoke about what it means to be safe and focused on learning, what behaviours are okay and not okay, how to be a supportive friend, and how it’s great to reach out for help to solve problems when they are small problems, rather than waiting until the problem becomes a much bigger issue that is more difficult to resolve.
A really great resource is the THINK acronym. Before speaking, posting something online, asking yourself: Is it TRUE? Is it HELPFUL? Is it INSPIRING? Is it NECESSARY? Is it KIND?
A huge thanks to those parents and caregivers who came along to the Meet the Principal evening, and to hear the update on the building project. Foundation work is well underway for the first part of the new building, and the new administration block is being marked out. Unfortunately this does mean that access to the front of the school will change over the coming weeks and months. There will be clear signage for parents, visitors to the college and students.
I hope you all enjoy the Easter break. A reminder that school is back on Wednesday 7 April.
Toitū te whenua, toitū te tangata
The land is strong, the people are fulfilled.
Ngā mihi,
Nicola Jacobsen
