LIBRARY NEWS

Maia Bennett —

See below for news and updates happening in the library.

Kia ora,

It has been a busy start to the year as we have transformed the former classroom space into a small but workable library. Special thanks to Ronnie and Clayton for their assistance. We will continue to make changes as we endeavour to make the library a comfortable and functional place for all… but look how far we've come!

With the parent-teacher interviews coming up soon, parents are probably considering how they can support their children to do well at school. One of the best ways parents can do this, is by helping them to enjoy reading for pleasure - whether that is reading books, graphic novels, comics or magazines.

An easy way for parents to help their children gain access to material they want to read is to join the local public library. It is free to join, and allows access to a wide range of books (including downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks), magazines (including digital magazines in a wide range of languages), graphic novels, and sophisticated picture books. Local children under the age of 18 are welcome to join Queenstown Lakes Libraries but require an adult library member to act as guarantor. Join Queenstown Lakes Libraries here: https://codc-qldc.govt.nz/join.

Another way to support your children’s reading is to buy books as presents, or to bolster their collection at home. Scholastic Book Club brochures have been distributed to Year 7 and 8 classes. If you wish to place an order, please note we only accept orders through loop with payment by credit card. Check the inside back page of the catalogue for instructions, or go here: https://mybookclub.scholastic.co.nz/Parent.aspx. Please order by 19 February.

Ngā mihi,

Maia
