Students in the Community

What a term! Wānaka is a great place to be at the start of the year and even more so if you are looking to give back by volunteering. We have had our Year 13s (and others) helping out at many of the large scale events over the last few months. Challenge Wānaka, Motatapu, the A&P Show and more recently Warbirds over Wānaka. It is fantastic to see the town buzzing and we are so grateful to our students for giving up their time to help with the running and oragnisation of these events.

As well as these community events, we have had our seniors demonstrate whanaungatanga and give back to our school community by working with the Year 7s in the new Peer Support programme.

It is always good to see students getting recognised for the hard work they do in our local sports and cultural clubs. Many of these students give back to clubs that they have been a part of through the years. Thanks to those putting up their hand for coaching, umpiring and mentoring.

A special thank you to those students who helped out at the ANZ tent at the show and at the International Women's Day dinner in Hāwea. We received exceptional feedback from organisers.

As a year group, this term we have volunteered over 600 hours in our community, with many more options available for the coming months. For any information on opportunities please email sic@mtaspiring.school.nz
