LUCY RADFORD SCALES 'EVEREST'

Newsletter Editor —

Lucy Radford, Year 8, has walked up Mount Iron 53 times, the height of Mount Everest, and raised $1000 for charity.

Over the lockdown, Year 8 student Lucy Radford took altruism to new heights when she decided to raise money for local charity, Food for Love, which provides meals for those going through hard times. Over the course of eight weeks, Radford climbed Mount Iron 53 times, which is the equivalent height of Mount Everest, and raised $1000 dollars. A wonderful initiative and truly inspiring, well done Lucy! She said:

'At the start of lockdown, I set myself a challenge. To go up Mt Iron every day of lockdown and on Sunday it was my 53rd time in a row, which is the equivalent of climbing the height of Mt Everest! I decided to make it worthwhile and fundraise some money to help the local charities here in Wanaka. All together I fundraised $1000 and I have donated that money to Food For Love, as I think lots of families will need their support after this pandemic.'
