STUDENTS IN THE COMMUNITY

Mount Aspiring College —

Here we showcase some of the great initiatives our students are involved with.

TERM THREE SIC UPDATE

Term three has brought a range of different opportunities for our Students in the Community volunteers. Unfortunately going back into level two meant that many sporting events and coaching opportunities were cut short. However, ongoing projects such as buddy programs with Wanaka Primary, sorting food for the foodbank, and community cleanups were still able to go ahead

We had groups of students out selling raffle tickets for the Cancer Society for Daffodil Day and even more bunching and delivering fresh daffodils to local businesses. A great opportunity was given to a small group who were able to volunteer at the From Scratch musical performance organised by the Festival of Colour. It has been so great to be able to pass on all the positive feedback received from these community groups. It really shows how grateful people are for the help provided.

With term four being a busy time for our year 13s, SIC hours are all completed by the end of term three. I am so pleased with what this year’s group has managed to achieve, particularly with a lockdown in the middle, and I am looking forward to planning some new and exciting opportunities for next year’s cohort!
