EXAMS

NZQA Exam Rules and Procedures

What to bring to Exams:

  • Your Exam Admission Slip (students will be given these over the next week). If you lose this you must have another one printed and signed by Ms Ashton. You can print one yourself from your own NZQA student login.

  • Pens (blue or black), rulers, highlighters, pencils and erasers.

  • An approved calculator if required (memory cleared)

  • Water in a clear unlabelled bottle

  • Photo ID for Scholarship exams

What not to bring to Exams:

  • Digital devices including watches of any type and cell phones (see below for an exception)

  • Food

  • Paper, notes, books

  • Correcting fluid

Emergency Pack

  • You can bring an emergency pack into the exam room and place it under your chair.

  • It must be in a clear, sealable plastic bag and can contain cell phone, keys, money and medicines)

Timing:

  • Arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of your exam.

  • Morning exams start at 9.30am and afternoon exams start at 2.00pm

  • If you are more than 30 minutes late for your exam you will not be able to enter the exam room, or sit the exam. In this case contact the NZQA teacher (Ms Ashton) as soon as possible.

Rules:

  • You cannot communicate with anyone in the exam room apart from the supervisors.

  • If you have any problems or need to go to the toilet, put up your hand and wait for a supervisor.

  • Supervisors cannot explain questions from the exam to you.

  • At all times follow the instructions of the supervisors.

  • Any exam paper you do not wish to be marked, do not write on it at all.

Problems:

  • If you have a problem before the exam starts (illness, accident, family crisis etc) get in touch with Ms Ashton or the school office as soon as possible.

  • Any issue that causes you to miss an exam or be seriously impaired in the exam will need evidence to support it (medical certificate etc)

Years 7 & 8 - Thursday 28 November, 2pm

Years 9 & 10 - Thursday 28 November, 5.30pm

(Waitangi Day: Thursday 6 February)

(Otago Anniversary Day: Monday 23 March).

Term 2: Tuesday 28 April to Friday 3 July

(Queen’s Birthday: Monday 1 June)

Term 3: Monday 20 July to Friday 25 September

Term 4: Monday 12 October to Tuesday 8 December

(Labour Day: Monday 26 October)

2019 MAC MAGAZINE

A copy of the 2019 MAC magazine will be issued to each family (eldest child) later this year. Extra copies of the magazine can be purchased for a cost of $10. Please place your order at the office as soon as possible or email shersonm@mtaspiring.school.nz. 

LOST PROPERTY

So much stuff! Jackets, puffas, hoodies. Have you misplaced something?

If someone has accidentally picked up the wrong black Macpac size 12 puffer with zigzag stitching by the arm area, could you please hand this in at the office. 

LIBRARY DATES 

Junior students (Year 7 to Year 10) can borrow books from the library until Friday 8th November. When junior classes need resources after these dates, teachers will borrow the books under their name and responsibility.

ALL LIBRARY BOOKS TO BE RETURNED BY TUESDAY 19 NOVEMBER.

2020 Leadership Application forms for Year 11 & 12 Students : 

Timeline: 

2019 

1 November - Shortlisted candidates notified in writing and final day for Y12 and Y13 students

5 November -  Final day for Y11 students

6 November - Information Evening for parents of incoming Year 6 students - 7.00 pm

8 November - NZQA Exams begin 

29 November - Orientation Morning for Incoming Year 6 students - 9.30 am - 12.30 pm  

2 - 5 December - Involvement in activities programme 

6 December - Successful students, including House Leaders, notified in writing

2020

23 January - Committees meet and greet new hostel students

28 January - All successful candidates, including House Leaders involved in an orientation day at MAC. All Committee members and House Leaders presented to the students and staff at the first assembly.  

PARENTING 101

Parents of years 10 & 11 students are invited to the ‘Parenting 101’ evening with Wanaka Police, senior MAC staff and community support groups, being held on Tuesday 29th October 7pm in the MAC staffroom. 

They will provide an update on our local alcohol, drug and party scene and offer options to increase youth resilience to safely navigate these teenage years. 

This is a free evening hosted by the Wanaka Alcohol Group.
