PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dean Sheppard —

Here Acting Principal Dean Sheppard shares his thoughts.

Kia ora and welcome to the Mount Aspiring College newsletter, the final one for term three,

I would like to start this week by congratulating several of our cultural committee and friends who today won the national title for Showquest 2020. Their video entry ‘Nga Mea Iti’ was a sensational effort and you can see the entry on our facebook page. Well done Cece Gardner, Luca Georgalli, Holly Gibson, Laura Neale, Isobel Smith, Jaimee Vink, Olly Thomas, Ollie Blyth, Kiera Gray and Siena Shotwell.

Following along the performance note, I attended the Year 13 Box theatre show ‘Shudder’ on Wednesday - a powerful show that was written in 2000 and touched on themes of new beginnings. Well done to all involved, and a special thanks to Emily McRae for facilitating.

This term we have made the most of being able to participate in extracurricular opportunities - thank you to all of our parent helpers that get involved in coaching, managing sports teams and also those that help out in the cultural context such as Kapa Haka and the arts, we couldn't offer the opportunities we provide without you!

I was fortunate enough to spend a full day on Wednesday alongside Heather Watt (Barker Dean) and Ian Hall (BoT Chair) interviewing some of our amazing senior students for scholarships. I have to say I am blown away at the talent we have within our school - the achievements of these students are truly remarkable.

Finally, A huge thanks to all our staff for their incredible work over what has been a rather hectic term, you have all been doing an amazing job! To our students, have a well deserved break, have fun but be safe...see you back here next term bright eyed and bushy tailed!

Have a great break everyone!!

Nga mihi
