NATIONAL MTB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The national MTB championships were held in Dunedin during the holidays. Nineteen MAC students attended this three day event and tested their skills in the enduro, downhill and cross country races. Mount Aspiring College placed 5th overall out of 108 schools from NZ and came away with national titles for some of our riders:

  • Kalani Muirhead took out two titles in two days by winning the female U17 downhill to go with the enduro win on day one. The U16 winner from last year and current South Island champion dominated her competition in the challenging conditions.

  • Amy Benson also showed great skill and experience during her three races. She placed first in the U13 girls enduro, 2nd in the downhill and 2nd in the cross country race and was the overall winner in her age group.

  • Luke Hancock placed 3rd in the U15 boys Enduro race.

Thanks to team manager Clair Kok and all the parents for their support and congratulations to all the riders and place getters! Great effort! See the rest of the photos below.
