Principal Nicola Jacobsen shares her thoughts.

At the last junior and senior assembly the Head Students presented certificates to senior and junior students who had exemplified the school's values over the past term.

Congratulations to:

Darragh Gilfedder - he has displayed aspects of whanaungatanga, and continues to present a bright attitude towards his learning and everyone he interacts with. He also constantly displays aspects of compassion and kindness.

Asha Blake - she consistently shows the value of whanaungatanga towards all of her classmates by striving to make strong connections with everyone in her class. She is respectful and has shown and continues to show the values of ihi and aroha to all of her peers and teachers.

Onelie Ratnapala - Onelie is a hardworking and diligent person. She is always respectful and displays the value of manaakitanga with everything she does. Onelie is determined and interested in learning everything, even out of her comfort zone. She is respectful of both her peers and the school environment.

Harper Norman - he is consistently respectful of others and cheerful to be around. Harper is highly competitive and hardworking, displaying the school value of ihi within his sporting endeavours which include athletics, football and touch rugby. He takes opportunities that are on offer and is always enthusiastic, making him an exemplary student at the College.

Ania-Kanu Saklani - she has displayed aspects of manaakitanga, and is consistently getting involved and takes up nearly every single opportunity Mount Aspiring College has to offer, she does this with enthusiasm and pride.

Nat Warburton - he has shown whanaungatanga towards all students within the school and strives to make connections with new people. He has also really stepped up within the senior school this year. He displays the value of Ihi by continuously being enthusiastic, trying his hardest and getting involved in all school events.

Carter Guichard - this year is incredibly important to his cycling career because he is competing alongside other junior riders to a pro-contract with his AG2R team by the end of this year - only some riders will receive contracts, and because of his ihi, manaakitanga and dedication to his craft is most definitely a deserving recipient of this award.

Claudia Paterson - always demonstrates the value of ihi with everything she does. She consistently puts her hand up to help and is often the first to say yes. She also shows values of whanaungatanga by supporting others in and out of school, demonstrating tikanga and aroha towards everyone.

Parents and Friends of MAC have been continuing their fundraising efforts for the adventure playground. Thanks to all involved, who give their time to support these efforts. It is a great way of role modelling service, which is helpful for the Year 13 students who are completing service through the Students in the Community programme, the William Pike award and/or the Duke of Edinburgh award.

Finally, I am immensely grateful to everyone for what has been a very good term for the College. Students are engaged, and working towards their learning goals, with excellent opportunities to be active and supported in their learning; staff and parent volunteers who ensure that all of the extracurricular opportunities can go ahead. Thank you for your support.
