KAHU YOUTH

Exciting times! Your child has just started to go to Mount Aspiring College! With that he/she can now officially come to our youth club and join in all the activities and events we run!

Who are we?

Kahu Youth engages with Upper Clutha Youth by involving them in productive, learning and fun activities and programmes so they can connect to the wider community and continue to build life skills, increase self-esteem and build confidence.

What do we do?

Some of the most popular programs we run are our Adventure Clubs. They run on Wednesdays (10 Girls), Thursdays (10 Boys) and Fridays (10 Boys) after school during term time. At the start of each term they talk about the different activities they want to do each week – since interests can be very various, the activities for each term are different. Some of the most popular ones are: kayaking, horse riding, arts and crafts, games days, climbing, swimming, white water rafting, pottery, baking, paintball and many more.

Other famous programs, events groups and activities we run are:

Youth vs. Wild, our Holiday Programs, the Blue Moon Party, our Mentor Scheme and the Upper Clutha Youth Council; not to mention Gardening, Cooking/Baking Lessons, Matariki and our Card Board Boat Race and Polar Plunge, Taking Over Amigos, the Youth Volunteer Awards and much, much more besides.

Last but not least: Drop-In-Sessions

Our drop-ins on Fridays (6-10 pm) and Saturdays (3-10 pm) are a great opportunity to explore new hobbies and try out things that have never been done before, or just hang out and enjoy the yummy dinner we serve each night! We have experienced youth workers with various skills and are always happy to help; plus a very wide range of arts and crafts items as well as instruments, sporting equipment and much more!

For those who want to relax a bit after school from Tuesdays – Thursdays: The crib is open and buzzing Tuesdays - Thursdays from 3.15pm - 5.30pm. There’s a pool table, lots of games, play stations, free Wi-Fi, free food, comfy couches and amazing people!

Sounds great? It is! Come around and explore the wonderfully various world of Upper Clutha’s Youth Service at 11 Russell Street.
