LIBRARY NEWS

Maia Bennett —

See below for news and updates happening in the library.

Kia ora,

We are pleased to announce the winners of the competitions held to celebrate Aotearoa NZ School Library Week earlier this month.

The Bookmark Design Competition winners are: Y7-8 Olivia Smith; Y9-10 joint winners Emma Cartlidge and Zoe Waddington; Y11-13 Oscar Waddington. The brief was to “design a bookmark illustrating a favourite book” and the judges were rapt with the quantity and quality of entries. The winner of the Bookmark Colouring Competition is Yohana Merengngnage. Bookmarks are being printed and will be available in the library soon.

The Guess Who? Competition to match staff members with favourite books and bookish things generated lots of interest. The winner with the most correct guesses is Haylee Jermyn. The answers are up in the library now, so come in and see whether you guessed right!

The winner of the Whānau Library Quiz with a perfect score of 12/12 is Mrs Kemp’s Whānau IKPT.

Thanks to all participants and congratulations to our winners!

Jade Lunny recommends Keeper of the Lost Cities book series by Shannon Messenger

I recommend reading Keeper of the Lost Cities because this magical book is truly one of the best books ever. Once you start reading you can’t stop! Read as Sophie and her friends take huge risks and go on exciting quests. I give this a 6 out of 5 star rating. Come and get the first book of the series, you won’t be disappointed.
