Annabel Carter

Hello my name is Annabel and I am currently a year 12 student at MAC and running for the role of Board of Trustees representative for 2020.

I have been at Mt Aspiring College since year 7 so I know the school very well for future improvements that could be made. I absolutely love this school and I would be so privileged to be able to be a part of a small change.

I am a very enthusiastic person who is approachable and easy to talk to on any basis. I am hard working with a great work ethic, good at public speaking and not afraid to voice my opinions. I am passionate about leading individuals and groups in the future and I know this will be a great stepping stone to do that.

I have always looked up to the Board of Trustees representative since coming to this school in year 7 and I think I would fit the role perfectly. I love working with the younger years of the college and the seniors and discussing with them what improvements could be made to make this school a better place for all students and staff. I have had prior experience with leadership as I attended a course called Green SuperCamp which I am now a leader in training over there. By this great experience I have had the pleasure to learn new leadership and communication skills that I could hopefully bring to MAC in the future.

The reason I would be a good candidate for this role is I am able to devote my time and full attention to this amazing opportunity. I will be willing to put in 110% effort and concentration to make sure this schools improvements mean something for the students and staff. The voice of the students is the most important and I believe we can achieve anything we put our minds to.

Thank you for this opportunity for me to be a candidate in this election and I hope to make a difference in this school in 2020.

Kindest regards, Annabel

Kiera Gray

Hi, I’m Kiera,

I’m excited to be running for the Board of Trustees student representative for 2020. I’ve only been at MAC for a few years, but in that time I have fallen in love with the school's environment, people & culture. It would truly be a pleasure to be the BOT rep for 2020, and help the student’s through the exciting changes to come.

With a new uniform just around the corner, I’m someone who really cares about the student’s voices, and I would love the opportunity to allow student’s opinions to be heard more than ever. Something I would really like to focus on this year is making sure all voices (big or small) will be heard. I really enjoy working with people of all ages, so being able to work one on one with the students and board this year would be awesome.

I really hope I will get your vote for this position, and together, we can have a great year here at Mount Aspiring College.

Thank you

Carter Hewson

Hi, I’m Carter,

I’ve been at MAC since I was a year seven and ever since I joined I’ve always wanted to make this school a better place, for everyone.

I have much leadership experience including NYLD, St John Youth and many other leadership programs. I’m incredibly professional and do everything to the highest possible standard.

I’m incredibly persevering and will always keep going, even when times get rough.

I believe I have a lot to offer this school with my calm head, creative attitude and an open mind. Furthermore, I’m non-biased and easily approachable.

I have a variety of different hobbies so I am able to relate to many different students no matter what they enjoy. I have been a member in many different sports teams so I understand what it is to be a team player.

I already have work experience at Wanaka New World so I understand responsibilities well. I’m very punctual and will always be on time with any request and needs that anyone has.

Although I’m a younger candidate, this just means I have more free time to listen to your requests.

Thank you for your consideration.

Carter

Charlie Holmes

Hi, my name is Charlie Holmes and I am one of the candidates running for BOT rep.

I think I would make a great bot rep because I am relatable, confident and friendly. I try my best in school and I am a very studious student, always focused. I will take the good ideas put forward by the student community and try my best to represent them.

This is why I would be a great BOT rep and be able to do the best for the community. That's why you should vote for me.

Isobel Smith

Do you feel you have a voice here at Mt Aspiring College? The BOT Reps job is all about helping you find and use your voice. Hi, I’m Isobel and I’m running to be your Student Board of Trustees Representative.

We are living in a time of growth and change in Wanaka and at MAC, with many important issues that will affect the future of the school. Helping students understand these issues is as much a part of the job as listening to and expressing their opinions. As an experienced leader, I can help enable a two way conversation to make a difference.

You may have seen me organising school debates, representing the school in speech competitions, and Council forums and meetings. I have even represented MAC at a national level at the Model United Nations, Model Westminster Parliament, and other UN Youth conferences. I am on the Academic Committee and am familiar with how student and staff leaders work together.

Why am I a great candidate? I am a hard worker and truly passionate about making positive changes here at MAC. I won’t back down on important issues. If elected, I would like to focus on effective communication channels between the student body and the Board of Trustees. For example, I would digitize the OFI (Opportunity For Improvement) box, making it more accessible, anonymous, and effective. That is only one idea, I’m sure you have many more.

I would love the chance to represent you as your 2020 Bot Rep.
