TOUCH RUGBY
Year 7 and 8 touch will be played on Monday from 5 to 6pm at the Wanaka Show Grounds. The first 15-30 minutes will be a warm up and skills followed by one game of 14 minutes each way.
Touch will start on Monday 14 October 2019 (week 1 of Term 4).
The finals will be held on Monday 11 December with one cancellation day the 18th of December 2019.
Teams will be allocated from registrations and registrations close at the end of term 3.

UPPER CLUTHA PRIMARY SCHOOLS - SKI AND SNOWBOARD RACE
Open to all Year 7 & 8 students of intermediate skiing/boarding ability, no racing experience required. Come and have FUN at Cardrona racing down a Giant Slalom and Gravity X course. Get a team of three or four together - all boys, all girls or mixed where the best three combined times count towards medal placings.

NZ SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY SKIING CHAMPIONSHIPS

SCHOOLS CATEGORY NEW FOR BIKE WANAKA 10-HOUR RACE
This year's Bike Wanaka 10 Hour race, held at Deans Bank on Sunday the 27th of October, has for the first time a Schools category. This is open to teams formed by four or more secondary school children, with at least one boy and one girl in each team. There will be prizes from our generous sponsors for the team that manages to cycle the most laps of Deans Bank in 10 hours. It's a fun event, with the team's encouraged to build great camps to base themselves at Albert Town campground - the race course will snake through these camps in each lap and this makes for a really fun day for all.

BREAKDANCE WORKSHOP
Breaking, also called breakdancing or b-boying/b-girling, is an athletic style of street dance. Want to give it a go?
Amy Jolly, former MAC student and dance teacher, is offering a 30 min introduction to breakdancing.

SPORTS RESULTS & CONGRATULATIONS!
International success
Fiona Murray finished 6th in the U19 downhill in the UCI mountain bike champs in Canada - a top result, considering she was up against mostly fully-sponsored riders. Well done Fi!
Luca Harrington had a podium finish in slopestyle at the Winter Games at Cardrona Alpine Resort. A brilliant result for a 15-year old competing against a strong field of open men!
National and regional selections
Georgia Budd (year 13) has been selected for the Otago U18 Girls Rugby team. This is the second year Georgia has been selected for the team which shows her commitment to the sport. Great effort Georgia!
Deia Carson-Wolfe has been selected for the Southland Gymnastics team in Trampolining and Tumbling.
Bella Soper has been selected to compete in Step 7 for the Otago Gymnastic Team.
The teams will compete at the NZ National Championships in Auckland from 2-5 October. This is the pinnacle event of the year, with athletes training up to 20 hours a week and having to pass national qualification criteria to be eligible for selection.
Regional results
MAC had plenty of top 10 finishes at the Otago Primary Schools cross country champs last week. Congratulations to all who took part.
Year 7 girls:
1st Catty David, 2nd Chantel Thurston, 6th Stella Dineen, 7th Amaya East, 10th Ania-Kanu Saklani.

Following the last two shoots of the Southland/Otago school shooting circuit for the year, Ruth was awarded the top shooter of the year in Southland and Otago gaining both the DTL aggregate High Gun and the Skeet aggregate High Gun. These are the two most sought after trophies and until now have never both been won by the same person in one year. We wish Ruth Bennie and Jacob Curtis the best of luck at the National Championships held in Hamilton later this month.
Southern Tour Cycling: Muireann Green came 8th in the ITT (individual time trial) and 9th in Criterium, McKay Watson was 10th in the ITT and 11th in the Criterium and Laurie Watson came 18th in the ITT. Murieann placed 6th and McKay and Laurie 8th in the hill climb, and Muireann was 7th in the road race.
