WAKATIPU EXCHANGE
On Thursday 22 August, a combined total of 340 MAC and Wakatipu students competed in the annual Wakatipu Exchange. This year MAC students competed against students from Wakatipu High School in six sports: basketball, rugby, football, hockey, netball and volleyball.
After many tough and competitive games, the event finished in a draw, with each school winning seven matches.
A huge thank you to all of the coaches, umpires, team managers, and teachers-in-charge for their support of the students. Thanks also to the students from Wakatipu High School for coming to MAC to participate in the event with such skill and team spirit.
And finally, congratulations to our MAC students for the skill and determination they exhibited across all their matches, and for their mihi whakatau which provided such a warm welcome to our guests on the day.

GYMNASTICS
Congratulations to MAC students Charlie Nisbet and Sami Reid who have been selected in the Otago Artistic Gymnastic team to compete at the New Zealand Championships in October at Palmerston North.
Charlie is the first male gymnast from Wānaka to be selected for this event, and Sami is the second female gymnast, following in the footsteps of Isabella Soper who won a national title in 2019.
In the lead up to their selection, Sami and Charlie competed at competitions in Invercargill, Dunedin and Christchurch, became Otago champions at the Southern Champs, and were each awarded trophies for the highest execution score out of all competing gymnasts at that event.
Charlie's and Sami’s determination to do their very best is a great example of our school value of ‘ihi’. Best wishes to Charlie and Sami for the nationals in October.
BASKETBALL
Our Senior A Girls Basketball team had a great win in the quarter finals of the Wānaka Basketball Club Women's League on Tuesday night.
