TEAM GREEN

The beeswax food wrap workshops have been very successful so Team Green have organised one more lunchtime session for Monday 31 August in Room 1. Come along, choose your fabric and make your own beeswax food wrap for free. You will not need plastic wrap to pack up your sandwich ever again.

NEWS FROM THE ILC

At the ILC we are grateful for the support the Ministry recently gave international departments to assist schools through this time, while our borders remain closed. We are holding steady with our remaining international students - who continue to work hard to reach their academic goals (all the while making their natural parents and us very proud). It's been a bit of a year indeed!!

We have an awesome extended whanau in our ex-MAC ILC students; they fly the flag for all the things they have learnt and taken away from Wanaka with them, thanks to lessons learned, the growing up they did and making the most of their experiences here alongside all of you and our wonderful host families. So, I thought it was high time to remind you of our ex-students from around the globe (who continue to stay in touch long after their time here) and, particularly of late, send their warm fuzzies to MAC, the community and the ILC. Many remember their time here as a special, unique experience which has helped shape who they are today.

Despite our closed borders, they make me realise that it's all about connection. These ex-MAC students keep us connected to the world, and in turn we offer snippets of MAC / Wanaka, so they can see what is happening and how we are all getting on. They constantly get reminded of how lucky they were to be a part of MAC and our amazing community (even if they do live overseas) and it makes me grateful to have been in this position and observe the magic. Thank you to all the ILC supporters who have shared this experience.

OFFSHORE MAC 'LOCAL'

We have one MAC student who is based offshore, currently working hard and definitely worthy of a special mention. Jimin Lee has been with MAC since March 2014. He is our lone offshore MAC student, who didn't quite make it back in time to start in Term 2 after spending the winter ski training (yes, he's going to be another MAC Olympian!). He is doing a combination of Distance Education and online lessons with Megan Van at Level 3 and is planning for university in Seoul for 2021. He is missed by us here and by his homestay. Apart from having to get up early to do his lessons with Megan he is also going to the gym and working towards a body building contest in October. He tells me his best memory of New Zealand is the nature and outdoors and, of course, his Kiwi friends.
