KATHMANDU COAST TO COAST 2025

L-R: Ciara Aitken (Villa Maria), Brooke McLachlan and Eva Small,  MAC.

Congratulations to the  “14 and Fabulous” team who won not only the female schools division but also the 2-day 3-person female teams overall category at the Coast to Coast event this weekend. Held every February, the race starts on the West Coast, at Kumara Beach and traverses the width of the South Island, crossing the main divide and finishing on the East Coast at New Brighton Beach in Christchurch. The race is one of the world's longest running multi-sports events and this year there were 1600 competitors.

Year 10 pupil Brooke McLachlan paddled the 67 km kayak on day 2 and Eva Small did the 32 km mountain run on day 1 and 15km bike on day 2.

Their teammate Ciara Aitken from Villa Maria in Christchurch rode the 55 km bike on day 1 and 70 km bike on day 2.

A shout out to Lucy Radford who also competed in the  2-day 3-person family team with her dad, Will. Lucy completed the 33 km mountain run and 70 km bike ride.

Well done girls on your courage, dedication and the effort you put into this event!
