TRAVELLING BY BUS TO SCHOOL

Parents of students new to the school have been contacted if they are eligible to catch a school bus. Students in Years 7 and 8 need to live more than 2.4 ks from school by the most direct route and 4.8 ks for students in years 9-13. If you have not been emailed, and you believe that your child is eligible to catch a bus home, you can email shersonm@mtaspiring.school.nz giving your physical address and child(ren)s names. Please also do so if you have recently moved house and believe that your child(ren) may now be eligible.

We hope to issue new bus passes within the first couple of weeks of school so a prompt update would be appreciated. The Ministry of Education bus route number will be printed on the pass and this is also clearly displayed in the window of each school bus.

School buses leave fairly punctually so it is best to hurry to the bus stop, especially as some of our shorter lines of access may be available due to construction. There is always a staff member on hand to help students find the correct bus. As many students have after-school activities students are not checked on / off the buses by staff. However, bus passes will be spot-checked regularly so students must always carry their pass with them.

Please email the bus controller, Simon Nyhof if you have any concerns or comments about any of the school buses - nyhofs@mtaspiring.school.nz

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOL DAY

We operate a 10-day timetable to enable incorporation of senior, junior and house assemblies as well as whanau time. All information is contained within a students timetable on kamar however key points to note are as follows:

  • Each week is either ‘even’ or ‘odd.’ Week one of each term is 'odd'.

  • Every Monday is a late start at 8.55am.

  • Every other day starts at 8.35am.

  • In odd weeks students have one other late start as detailed on their timetable.

  • In even weeks, students have house meetings.

  • New terms always commence with an ‘odd’ week

  • Five minute warning bells ring before the start of school, and at the end of each break.
