HELLO FROM THE HOSTEL

Phoebe Wood & Julie Autet —

Read about the hostellers orientation weekend here.

Wow what a great first couple of weeks we’ve had at the hostel and at Mount Aspiring College! We would like to begin by thanking everyone at the college for being so welcoming to the hostel students and enabling us to settle in so quickly. We kicked off our year at the hostel with a three day orientation tramp, where we arrived at our campsite; Mount Aspiring Flats and were welcomed by a family of keas. The tramp was an awesome way to get to know each other and learn thirty new names! Despite the slightly wet weather, our spirits weren’t dampened and the sun even came out in time for a swim in the waterfall; a highlight for many.

We’ve loved our time in Wanaka so far, our first two weeks have been filled with adventures and the weather’s been a bonus.

We’d like to thank our awesome hostel managers and OP instructors for being so supportive and friendly since day one. Despite being here for such a short time, we feel like a true part of the school community and are really excited to spend the rest of our year 13 here at Mount Aspiring College.
