PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Wayne Bosley —

Here principal Wayne Bosley shares his thoughts.

Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to the Mount Aspiring College newsletter.

It's been another productive week here at MAC and as we near the end of term one I can't help but reflect on the wonderful amount of talent we have within our school. I am constantly hearing news of how our students are meeting and exceeding their goals both within the college and in the community.

This week I would like to commend three of our senior english students, Isobel Smith, Ashley Bates and Emma Hutchison - who stepped out of their comfort zone and competed in the Wanaka Rotary Speech competition. A special mention goes to Isobel, who won this round and moves forward to the finals.

In the junior school three of our year eights went through to the finals of the ‘Lake Invaders’ video competition, congratulations to Toby Gunn, who came second and to both Lucy Radford and Violet Davidson who received highly commended. A very pertinent topic to be highlighting.

We have also announced our student whanau leaders for each house. Thank you to all those who put their hand up to lead.

I was delighted to witness the NZ Army band during period 3 today, and enjoyed seeing how our year seven to ten students got into the music and how well they conducted themselves in front of our visitors.

On that note, I would also like to congratulate the first group of year sevens who returned from camp this week, I'm told your behavior was exemplary, well done for representing the school so well. Thank you to our wonderful year seven teachers and all the parent helpers who gave up their time to assist.

On my lunch break today I took a wander around the tennis courts where the Sports and Cultural Expo was being held. What a great turn out! It was excellent to see the amount of choices we have here at MAC for both cultural and sporting opportunities.

A quick note on Coronavirus, we are taking every precaution and acting in accordance with the Ministry of Education guidelines. See the ‘important notices’ section for the latest update.

Finally, I want to remind you about our Community Information Session being held on Monday 16 March at 6.00pm in the gym. This will be an open forum for parents to hear updates from the school, share feedback and ask questions from myself and the Board of Trustees.

Make the most of the fine weather, and enjoy the show on Saturday!

Nga Mihi,

Wayne Bosley
