Kavanagh Exchange
On Monday and Tuesday of this week, Kavanagh College travelled up from Dunedin to take part in our annual year 7 & 8 sports exchange.
We started off with some very close matches of basketball on Monday night with both games being decided by two points. The Kavanagh girls won in a nail biting finish while the MAC boys managed to hold on for victory in their game.
The following day started off with a very exciting football match. It was five all at the end of full time and went to penalties which Kavanagh won.
The MAC hockey team put on a strong performance and came away with an 11-0 win and both the Year 7 & 8 netball teams were slick and had convincing wins. The rugby team were very clinical, well drilled and had a big win against the Kavanagh team. The exchange was finished with the girls rippa rugby which MAC came from behind to win. The final result was 6 - 2 to MAC, but more importantly, everyone enjoyed themselves, got to make new friends and had the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of their classmates.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents that hosted billets for the night, and thanks to the sports committee students that helped coach and run the sports.
Be sure to check out the highlight reel below.

Looking for something to do over Labour weekend?
This year's Bike Wanaka 10 Hour race, held at Deans Bank on Sunday the 27th of October, has a Schools category for the first time. This is open to teams formed by four or more secondary school children, with at least one boy and one girl in each team. There will be prizes from our generous sponsors for the team that manages to cycle the most laps of Deans Bank in 10 hours. It's a fun event, with the team's encouraged to build great camps to base themselves at Albert Town campground - the race course will snake through these camps in each lap and this makes for a really fun day for all.
