STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Here we celebrate student achievement and showcase activities our students are involved in around college.
MAC’s Performing Arts Film and Live Performance Technologies course equips students with practical skills and knowledge covering any behind-the-scenes aspects of entertainment and performance events.
This term, our students have embarked on creating a music video (lead photo) for Paige Gawn’s original song ‘Playfighting with the Truth’ written for ‘Elephant Talk’, our Festival of Colour performance this year.
Students are in charge of all aspects of the video production, including its design, direction, planning, shooting, and post-production editing. Our hard-working students recently spent a Saturday afternoon on location to capture outside scenes.
This real-world experience helps students learn how to respond to unexpected obstacles and last-minute changes to plans and allows them to develop the excellent problem-solving skills needed to reach their goal. The film will be completed by the beginning of next term for entry in the Onscreen Showquest short film competition.
Our Performing Arts and Event and Entertainment Technologies course is open to students in Years 11 to 13. You can read more about it in our course guide here.
WORLD VISION SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP SUMMIT
Mount Aspiring College has been identified as one of Aotearoa’s top-performing secondary schools in the 2023 World Vision 40 Hour Challenge. As a result, Mount Aspiring College has been awarded a place at World Vision’s Senior Scholarship Summit in Auckland.
This provides Mount Aspiring College with the opportunity to select a current Year 12 student to attend three days of global education, leadership development and social action training. The student will be part of a group of 35 hosted by World Vision from Sunday 21 to Wednesday 24 January 2024.
This is an all-expenses-paid trip to Auckland that both rewards our kura and further invests in the leadership development of a student who will have an influential role when they enter Year 13 next year. View this video to see what previous students have said about this opportunity.
Contact Mrs Arlidge (arlidges@mtaspiring.school.nz) for further information. Applications are due by Friday 8 September.
