NCEA CHANGES IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS:
NZQA, the governing body of our school qualifications, has recently announced some changes that will assist students with their assessments in 2020.
Examination dates have been pushed back. They now start on 16 November and end on 9 December. This gives pupils and teachers one extra week to prepare. See the updated examination timetable here
Level 1 and 2 Arts students will have more time to complete portfolios - teachers will let students know the new dates.
Subjects that require submission of a portfolio (PE Scholarship, Technology SPD) will have extra time now - they are due 12 November.
It is unlikely NZQA will change the credit requirements for the awarding of NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3 or for endorsements.
NZQA is consulting with Universities NZ on whether adjustments are needed to University Entrance to recognise the disruption to Year 13’s learning. However, there has been no update on this yet.
Rules and procedures around assessments at MAC have not changed and students should communicate with their teachers, in the first instance, if they are having difficulties with due dates etc. All students have received an NCEA Handbook which explains the rules and procedures.
Teachers will communicate clearly with students if there are to be any changes to the assessment programmes.
CANTEEN UPDATE
The canteen will now be orders only, and these must be completed here, before 9.30am the day of. Please note that if you forget your money, it will be charged to your school account.
EARLY CLOSURE PROTOCOL
Please see here for guidelines on what to do if the school closes early in the event of an emergency or snow.
