WASTEBUSTERS REPAIR REVOLUTION
Wastebusters is excited to present our next round of Repair Revolution events which empower our communities to keep stuff in use and out of landfill. If you have an item you would love repaired, come along and let the expert volunteers work their fix-it superpowers on it. Together with your assigned volunteer, you will work through the repair process to bring your item back to life and equip you with some skills and knowledge on how to do it yourself!
If you, or anyone you know, enjoys repairing things and sharing your know-how, you can volunteer as a fixer: computers, electronics, small appliances, furniture, clothes, jewellery, books, instruments, toys, skis, bikes and more. We are also looking for all round volunteers to assist with the smooth running of the events.
We welcome amateur aficionados as well as professional repairers as volunteers. Wastebusters will happily collect information about professional repair services and share it through our Repair Directory after the event to connect our community with local services and build a culture of repair.
Find out more about the event and register as a volunteer on the Wastebusters website here.
Upcoming dates and venues:
Wanaka: Saturday 4 November, Wanaka Community Workshop
Luggate: Saturday 18 November, Luggate Community Hall
The Repair Revolution is part of the Resourceful Communities project, proudly supported by Queenstown Lakes District Council Zero Waste District Programme.
TE KURA SUMMER SCHOOL
Registrations for Te Kura Summer School will be opening from 6 November 2023.
We are anticipating that with the upcoming changes to NCEA, there will be many ākonga (students) looking to top up their credits for NCEA and University Entrance over the summer holidays.
Te Kura Summer School may be the last opportunity for ākonga to complete the current 2023 NCEA Level 1 achievement standards before they expire and new NCEA Level 1 achievement standards are implemented in 2024.
Summer School courses are delivered online from December to February, so with access to a computer and the internet, ākonga can learn anywhere and anytime. Our Student and Whānau Support team is available to answer any Summer School queries. Please phone 0800 65 99 88 option 1, or email summerschool@tekura.school.nz.
