FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Principal Nicola Jacobsen shares her thoughts.
Kia ora
At the week nine assemblies the Head Students awarded a number of students who exemplify the school values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, tikanga, aroha, ihi and kaitiakitanga, and they have shown these values all in different ways.
Congratulations to:
Lily Wilson for her service to both the community and to the College. Lily does a huge amount for the school and is really humble about her achievements.
James Watson for his commitment to the 40 Hour Challenge, and how his encouragement has resulted in a number of students taking on this cause.
Hugo Corin for his dedication and commitment to the school production, sport, and his positive attitude towards everything that he does.
Susannah West for her commitment to her studies and the perseverance she shows in encouraging others, particularly in the leadership programme and the production.
Oscar Searle for his dedication, commitment and creativity. The videos Oscar creates of school events are really appreciated.
Cameron Clarke for consistently showing the value of whanaungatanga in the leadership programme.
Nieve McRae for her strong leadership in Netball, and her support for her team by playing out of position in order to benefit the team.
Naiah Beazley for her outstanding participation in cocurricular activities. She works hard to perform at a high level, and has a consistently positive attitude.
MACStock this week was a really great way to end the term. Seeing two nights of great performances, and the number of students involved both on stage and behind the scenes, is fantastic. Many thanks to the staff, parents and whānau who help to make this kind of event happen. MAC Radio starts today - check out 88FM or radio.mtaspiring.school.nz for more details.
End of term Academic Summary reports will be emailed to you today. Please check your inbox. We have parent-teacher interviews early on in Term 3 to catch up about how learning is progressing for your child. This is a particularly important time for our senior students who need to be aware of their NCEA requirements, and how they are progressing towards their goals. For our junior students, our year 7 and 8 students should be focused on developing their core skills, and learning about which subjects they may want to take in the future. For year 9 and 10 it is about getting ready for NCEA, and developing the skills needed to be more independent as a learner. We look forward to seeing you at the parent teacher interviews next term.
As it is the end of term, I would like to thank you all for your support. All the very best for the holiday break.
