LEVEL THREE OUTDOOR PURSUITS
Pictured below are our Level 3 Outdoor Pursuits students on their last trip of the year exploring a river canyon over the Haast Pass.
The shot of the group shows Ebony Kinney, who is wearing a pounamu pendant that was gifted by Tai Poutini Polytechnic for a student we felt deserving. Ebony epitomises all of the values that we uphold in outdoor pursuits, such as curiosity, determination, kindness, personal excellence, and a genuine passion for the outdoors. The pendant represents a shaped chisel called a "toki", which symbolises how the recipient might then carve out their chosen career pathway. In 2021 Ebony is heading to Tai Poutini Polytechnic on the West Coast to undertake tertiary studies in Outdoor Education. We think it is fitting that she wears her toki back to the place of its origin and we wish her all the best of success for her chosen career path.
WILLIAM PIKE CHALLENGE
Year 8 students had an awesome time completing the Wild Wire challenge as part of their William Pike programme.
