ARTS

Arts Department —

MACStock is coming up in July and this weekend, we have 16 acts competing at the Smokefree Rockquest regional finals!

MACStock

Our music students have been practising hard and are ready to showcase their amazing talent at MACStock at the Lake Wānaka Centre on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 July. MACStock is a great way for students to get a live concert experience in a safe environment. Tickets are just $10 for an individual or $30 for a family online at eventfinda (or there will be a limited number at the venue as door sales for $15 on the night).

There will be a family friendly area upstairs which will be restricted to parents accompanying younger children and there will also be seating downstairs (plus, of course, the dance area in front of the stage) Drinks and snacks will be available to purchase. Please bring an EMPTY water bottle to refill as we will not be supplying disposable cups this year.

Smokefree Rockquest

Smokefree Rockquest is Aotearoa’s only nationwide, live, original music, youth event. This year, MAC has an impressive 16 acts competing in the regional finals. Students will present their two original songs at the Queenstown Memorial Hall this Saturday 22 June. Congratulations to all the bands competing at the regional finals - it’s amazing to see so many students embracing this incredible opportunity.

Heart Affairs

Senior Box Theatre students present, by arrangement with Playmarket, Heart Affairs - a series of scenes and one-act plays exploring both the fragility and strength of the human heart. The roles students are working on allow them to personally tackle character challenges to develop further range in their performance abilities. These scenes and plays by prolific New Zealand playwrights will make you laugh, cry and everything in between. Some scenes contain adult themes and contexts appropriate for 15+.

Heart Affairs will be in the MAC Black Box Theatre on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 June 7pm. Entry is Adults $10 and Students $5 on the door.

Scenes are from Heavenly Bodies by Kerry Lynch, Good Night - The End by Jo Randerson,

Hotel (6 short plays) by Thomas Sainsbury, The Rosenberg Sisters by Michelanne Forster and Tiggy Tiggy Touch Wood by Renée.
