Many thanks to the parents and whānau who contributed to the survey over the past two weeks. We had 240 responses, and I am looking forward to taking some time over the holiday period to read through all the comments. On Tuesday night we held the first of two ‘New to MAC’ parent and whānau nights where we talked to parents of new students for 2025 about what learning and life is like at the College. It was great to see a number of new and current parents. There is a second evening planned for Term 4.
Congratulations to Tyler Gawn who has been elected by the student body as the student representative on the School Board. Tyler Gawn and Toby Mills did a fantastic job of their campaigns, and I appreciate the efforts - it takes a lot of courage and ihi to put yourself forward for an elected position.
This week at the junior and senior assemblies the Head Students celebrated the end of term by giving out their Head Student awards. These awards recognise students who have exemplified the school values, from a student perspective.
Congratulations to:
Amy Benson: for her ihi (resilience) in all that she does in her studies, and the great university results she is getting this year.
Alexis-Sofia Harvey-Wills: for her aroha and care in her leadership of the Wellbeing Committee.
Lachlan Hay: for his manaakitanga and commitment to his studies and his sports.
Jodie Wellwood: for her ihi in her determination to get excellent results in the school exams.
Ollie Wright: for his manaakitanga at the Trinity Exchange.
Alice Chaly: for her commitment to Kapa Haka and House Haka, and her enthusiasm for helping and supporting others.
Parker Collins: for his manaakitanha and ihi in his growing leadership skills in football and in his class.
Madison Smith: for her commitment to sailing and helping to organise a really significant event for the College, the America’s Cup visit.
I wish you all well for the school holiday period, and look forward to seeing everyone back for the start of term four.
Toitū te whenua, toitū te tangata.
The land is strong, the people are fulfilled.
