There will be running, mountain biking and orienteering as well as fun challenges and problem solving on both land and water.

The event is designed for all levels of experience. Only students in years 11-13 may take part and teams of 8 represent their school in one of the four categories:

Get2Go

The Get2Go regional one day challenge will be held on 14 September in Queenstown.

This event is open to year 9 and 10 students, no previous experience in adventure racing is necessary.

It’s a bit like the Amazing Race mixed together with adventure sports including rock climbing, orienteering, kayaking, stand-up paddling, mountain biking and some problem solving as well.

In the regional one day challenges, teams need to undertake four 60-minute long tasks and attempt each in the allotted time. To maximise their score in each task teams will be required to work together, using important team skills such as communication, problem solving, planning and decision making. There is a limited capacity of 24 teams at each regional challenge, with teams taken on a first in first served basis.

Teams of 8 represent their school in one of four categories:

  • All girls

  • All boys

  • Mixed

  • Mixed Premier (4 girls/boys)

If you would like to enter a team, please come to the sportshub to sign up or send us an email to sports@mtaspiring.school.nz.
